Aloe vera is a plant that can be cultivated in all climates. It grows in all soil also, especially in red soil. Lot of small plants sprout from the bottom of this plant, and these are used for cultivation. Never pull the plants out with the hands as this may damage the pulp inside the leaves. So while planting the new plant, use fork or to pull out the small plant along with its root. These plants of any stage of growth can be replanted. While replanting the plants should be kept at a distance of 45 cm .each. It can be grown in coconut groves, rubber plantations or even in pots in a garden. The plant has to be watered till the roots get firmed in the soil. Also it would be ideal to grow the plant scientifically by planting them in soil made to a heap. If the soil has slow organic content, add compost or cow dung to the plant. Otherwise no such manure is required for this. During the month of June, if we are replanting the plants, then add ash and dried cow dung. Watering is essential at this stage. Usually these plants are free from any infestations. After six months, the leaves are cut from the base of the plant and can be used or sold in the market. This plant can yield up to 10 kg of leaves. If this is cultivated in a large scale, the yield will be around 10 tons for an acre of land. If cultivated scientifically, its farming gives a good income to sustain a family.
