Sheers make for fantastic curtains! Light and billowy they can help create an enchantingly serene atmosphere. They will filter out harsh sunlight, creating a beautiful toned glow in your room during daytime. But when night falls and the lights are switched on, they offer very little privacy. Being transparent has its disadvantages. So you will most probably need an additional set of heavy-fabric curtains to avoid embarrassing situations!
Sheers are easier to handle than most curtains because of the lightweight fabric. And they can be hung on any base, ranging from tensioned wires to poles or rods. If you want to hang them on rods, just sew on a casting along the top of the sheer ‘threading’ the pole through. You could even hang sheers on expanding wires. The only trouble here is that there is a risk of the wire sagging. Although this is not much of a nuisance when it comes to purpose or utility, it can be unsightly when it comes to aesthetics. So, tension wires or rods are the best options.
