One of the basic things to do is cleaning the garden properly. You have to clear your garden area properly before even starting to think about gardening. Clear every waste and rubble in the area. If there are old worn-out structures, either tear them down or redecorate and repaint them.
Pull out any unwanted weeds. This will help the other plants grow better. Weeds will otherwise leave the plants looking sickly, weak or stunted. If you find plants growing in between weeds, it is better to pull them out too. It might be a hard task, avoiding them and then nursing them back to health.
After you are done with the cleaning, it is time for planting. Select trees and plants that flower in different seasons. This will ensure that even if some plants look a little dull in some seasons, the others around it will make up for that.
Prune scrubs, trees and hedges. Don’t worry, you are not hurting the tree. It will grow back bigger and better once pruned. But make sure you don’t prune too much. Conduct a small study on how to prune different plant species properly.
Water your plants regularly and adequately. Provide them with compost or fertilizers where required.
And finally, take good care of your fence. Repaint areas that need a retouch and mend broken fences.
