Although this is just a matter of common sense, it is not uncommon to overlook some of the basic things mentioned below. So have a quick look at the do’s and don’ts of handling sheers.
The first and foremost factor to be considered in handling sheers is their transparency! The fact that these lightweight fabrics are transparent, means stitches show through. So make sure you do not have awkward and uneven stitches on sheers, even with similar colored thread. Also avoid stitching together pieces to create a bigger piece as this will only look clumsy.
Blunt scissors leave behind ragged edges on these delicate fabrics. So always, always use a pair of sharp scissors to cut and size sheer fabric.
When sewing on sheer or sewing sheer together, always use fine thread, preferably polyester or polyester-cotton thread. This will not only match the dainty fabric, but will also avoid bunging of the fabric.
