Septic tanks are built in houses to deposit the toilet waste. But it is necessary to follow the rules of vastu shastra for building septic tank. Usually septic tanks are built according to convenience and such tanks built without looking in to vastu shastra may bring bad affects to the owner or tenants of the house. Usually septic tanks are built under the ground level. It is good to build a large septic tank if possible.
Septic tank can be built either on the east or northern side of the house. Vastu shastra insists that septic tank should not be built adjoining the house or compound wall. Septic tank should be positioned at least 2 and half feet apart from the house. Septic tanks should be square shaped. If the property where the house is built lacks area, then the tank should be built with length in the east west direction and breadth in the south west direction. In some places we find septic tanks positioned in the south western part. This may bring bad affects to the family. The pipe line towards the septic tank should be positioned so that the septic waste is flown in the southern or western side.
